Dr. Michael Schmidling is a New Jersey local having received his formalized training through an accelerated B.S.-M.D. Joint Degree Program at Rutgers University and UMDNJ Medical School. During his time in medical school he received many honors including acceptance into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical and graduated in the top 5% of his class. He excelled academically and in research co-founding the B.S./B.A-M.D. Research Program. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented posters at national meetings.
After completing his training, he worked with University Radiology Group and served as Assistant Professor at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, a tertiary care center in New Brunswick. While at University Radiology Group, he first became interested in treatment of varicose veins and minimally invasive treatments of cancer, now termed interventional oncology. He opened a vein center, and began treating patients with all types of venous disease.
In 2007 Dr. Schmidling joined Atlantic Medical Imaging, one of the premier radiology groups in New Jersey. He has continued treating venous disease and currently is the Co-Director of the Vascular Institute at Atlantic Medical Imaging. He has played a critical role in developing an Interventional Oncology program here in South Jersey and continues to perform all types of minimally invasive procedures including uterine artery embolization, angiography and angioplasty, and treatment of vertebral compression fractures with kyphoplasty. In 2013 he was honored as “Top Doc” in the NJ Monthly Magazine.
Dr. Schmidling currently serves as section chief of the Division of Interventional Radiology at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
